Participation Rules
How taking part in an ID8 event on the Greenhouse works. Prizes, dates and how many ideas go forward are set for each event and announced with it.
One person, one account
Every account confirms a mobile number, and a number can belong to only one account. Picks made from duplicate accounts may be removed, and the accounts closed.
Your ideas are public
Anyone can read what you publish. An idea entered in an event stays private to you and the organisers until submissions close, so nobody can copy it, and then every idea appears at once. Share only what you are comfortable making public. Do not post anything confidential, or anything you intend to patent or keep secret.
Ideas can inspire other people’s work
Publishing an idea here means other people may build on it, including by proposing their own projects from it, and more than one team may take up the same idea. When an idea is carried forward, we credit it to the person who posted it. The person who posts an idea does not have to be the person who develops it.
Post what is yours to share
Post your own ideas, or credit the people whose ideas you are building on. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share.
One idea per event
You can enter one idea in each event. Until submissions close you can change which one; your other ideas stay on your page and can go forward at a later event. Joining someone else’s team does not use up your entry.
How picking works
- Everyone in an event gets the same number of picks.
- You cannot pick your own idea.
- Pick counts stay hidden until picking closes.
- You can change your picks until the deadline.
Picks are not for sale
Asking friends to support your idea is fine. Paying for picks, trading them, or using more than one account is not, and can remove an idea from the event.
Who owns what
A project developed from an idea here belongs to the team that builds it. ID8 Lab Foundation takes no ownership of, and no equity in, any project: its awards and funding are grants, not investments. Teams may form companies, raise money and make their own arrangements with anyone they meet through ID8, and ID8 is not a party to those arrangements.
Be respectful
No harassment, hate, spam or illegal content. The organisers may remove content that breaks these rules and suspend the accounts that post it. Moderation is about conduct and eligibility. It is not a judgement on whether an idea is good.
